WHAT IS YOUR PET'S NEW YEAR RESOLUTION?
WILL IT BE TO LOSE WEIGHT?

Just like us, cats and dogs need a well balanced diet and treats in moderation. Regular exercise also plays an important part of a healthy lifestyle.

If your pet is eating too many treats, or you are over feeding him/her, then this can cause a common condition called OBESITY.

Signs of obesity include -

Difficulty feeling the ribs or spine
Difficulty seeing the waist
Abdomen starts to sag
Reluctance to play or go out for walks

Having a pet that is overweight or obese can cause several health problems especially as it gets older.

These problems can include:

Heart disease
Joint troubles
Liver disease
Diabetes
Skin troubles
Urinary disease

Your pet's quality of life can also deteriorate quickly. All these points are good reasons to ensure our pets are getting a balanced diet and plenty of exercise.

If your pet is showing any of these signs, or if you are at all worried that he/she may be overweight, or have any questions on your pet's diet, please feel welcome to make a FREE weight check appointment with one of our nurses.

During the appointment:

Your pet will be weighed
His or her target weight will be discussed
Type of diet and feeding regime will be talked over
Guidance will be given about exercise and treats that will suit your pet

Our nursing team are here to continually support and help you and your pet throughout your pet's diet regime.
